Terms and Conditions

Please read and accept the terms and conditions before proceeding.
  • The minimum stay is for the duration of one workshop. You can participate in several classes.
  • Workshops will only take place if 5 Participants are confirmed.
  • An application is only confirmed after a non-refundable down payment of 50% has been received, or a non refundable booking has been made at the in-house accommodation.
  • Photos and Snaps will be taken for documentation and communication.
  • Selected artworks produced during the workshops will be selected for a closing group exhibition for which a detailed contract will be signed.
  • The Fayoum Art Center does not cover any sort of health or accident insurances or liability.

Workshops

  • Hazem El Mistikawy - Sculptural Objects

    Hazem El Mistikawy
    10 to 16 February 2023 $200 (or equivalent in EGP)

    Fee includes: breakfast, midday snacks and dinners as well as a welcome and farewell barbeque.

    Not included: Material, Internet.

    Certificates signed by the tutoring Artist.

    Workshop Layout:

    Day 1: Orientation and a short talk / Sketching and discussing the ideas and designs to produce a small object

    Day 2: Sketching and discussing the ideas and designs of the participants to produce the second object “Arabic Letter”

    Day 3: Working Process, to produce the second object “Arabic Letter” design transformed to a sculptural form

    Day 4: Working Process, to produce the second object “Arabic Letter” design transformed to a sculptural form

    Day 5: Working Process, to produce the second object “Arabic Letter” design transformed to a sculptural form

    Day 6: Working Process / Finalizing the the second object “Arabic Letter” transformed into a sculpture form.

    Day 7: Review and critique / Exhibition Selection / Certificate handout

  • Mohamed Abla - Mixed Media Painting

    17 to 23 February 2023 $200 (or equivalent in EGP)

    Fee includes: breakfast, midday snacks and dinners as well as a welcome and farewell barbeque.

    Not included: Material, Internet.

    Certificates signed by the tutoring Artist.

    Workshop Layout:

    Teaching at various international institutions led him to found the Fayoum Art Center in
    2006. Today it is an establishment where young artists from all over the world live and
    work together.

    In 2009, he established the first caricature museum in the Middle East and
    North Africa. After the 2011 revolution, Mohamed Abla was elected as part of the
    Committee of 50 that wrote Egypt’s new constitution. In 2022 Abla was awarded the
    prestigious German Goethe Medal for his life’s achievements.

    Participants will get to know and execute different painting styles using mixed media techniques.

  • John O’Carroll - Abstract Landscape Painting

    John O’Carroll
    24 February 2023 to 2 March 2023 $200 (or equivalent in EGP)

    Fee includes: breakfast, midday snacks and dinners as well as a welcome and farewell barbeque.

    Not included: Material, Internet.

    Certificates signed by the tutoring Artist.

    Workshop Layout:

    Day 1: Orientation and a short talk by me about landscape painting and the different styles that can be used

    Day 2: Preparation on panels etc and sketching excursion into desert behind the lake

    Day 3: Studio day , selection of sketches reviewed to base paintings on

    Day 4: Short talk and demonstration of the Fayoum wax technique of painting plus studio work

    Day 5: Morning excursion sketching for those who want to develop more sketches and studio day

    Day 6: Studio Work

    Day 7: Review and critique / Exhibition Selection / Certificate handout

  • Carole Isler - Illustration & Drawing

    Carole Isler
    4 to 10 March 2023 $200 (or equivalent in EGP)

    Fee includes: breakfast, midday snacks and dinners as well as a welcome and farewell barbeque.

    Certificates signed by the tutoring Artist.

    Workshop Layout:

    Create wonderful illustrations in a variety of techniques to visually represent a text, convey a message or tell a story in pictures.

    Learn how to draw people (or animals) and then depict them in different styles.

    Bring your stories and comics to life.

    Last Day: Review and critique / Exhibition Selection / Certificate handout
